‘Proskuneo’ – to come towards to kiss
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him.” John 4:23
The worship of our Lord and King has always been of premium importance throughout history and, as we see in Revelation, it will continue to be so throughout all of eternity. Here at Oasis, we look for ever-increasing ways to offer worship to our Creator God, as well as inspiring and resourcing the Church Family.
Worship is our response to the sovereignty of God, our thankfulness to Christ for the sacrifice that He made so that we may experience continued intimacy with the Father, and an opportunity to be taught about our true identity by the Holy Spirit.
At its core, worship is an act of humility, where we surrender our lives to God (Romans 12:1). The purpose of worship is to ‘loose the bonds of wickedness… to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke’ Isaiah 58:6. It is a call back to our walk with God before we were separated from intimacy with him. Although for many churches (including our own) this primarily looks like singing and music on a Sunday, God’s plan for worship stretches far beyond the constraints of our morning services and should permeate into every aspect of our lives. It is a cry out that ‘He must increase, and I must decrease’ in our workplaces, families, marriages and on the streets.
Our worship team serves in a variety of settings, including Sunday morning and evening services, mid-week services and in-house groups across the Church.
We also provide worship at a variety of different events, such as Churches Together (Redditch), Prayer and Praise and Pentecost in the Park
